John Dunagan
Senior Vice President, Program Development
As Senior Vice President, Program Development, John Dunagan develops and oversees strategic advocacy programs for some of DDC Advocacy's largest clients. He brings to DDC Advocacy more than 14 years of professional experience in corporate, political, and non-profit grassroots campaign strategy and implementation.
Prior to joining DDC Advocacy, Dunagan was a founding member of CrossLink Strategy Group. Before that, he was the executive director of the Bush-Cheney ’04 Campaign in Michigan where he managed and executed all aspects of the statewide grassroots, communications, coalition, and legal strategies for President Bush’s re-election campaign in a key battleground state. Ultimately, he improved upon President Bush’s 2000 electoral performance by increasing the President’s vote total by nearly 400,000 in Michigan and winning nine additional counties.
Prior to that, Dunagan was a vice president at two of Washington’s elite public affairs firms—Edelman and Powell Tate. While there, he managed national and statewide campaigns on clients’ issues. Drawing from his extensive political campaign experience, Dunagan has lectured for the RNC, NRCC, AMPAC, and other organizations throughout the country on topics including: grassroots lobbying strategy, earned media, targeted voter contact, GOTV, and political campaign management. He has also appeared on XM Radio and been quoted in publications such as the Detroit News, Politics Magazine, and TownHall.com.
