Hillary A. Maxwell
Campaign Director
Hillary A. Maxwell serves as a campaign director at DDC Advocacy focusing on client campaign management. In her role, Ms. Maxwell develops campaign strategies and manages dynamic, nationwide grassroots and local media efforts for major clients. She brings to DDCA over 10 years of experience in issue advocacy, media affairs and political communications.
Prior to joining DDC Advocacy, Ms. Maxwell was at the DCI Group where she provided communications counsel to a variety of clients on issues including telecommunications, health care, energy and education. She also developed, executed and managed media relations and issue advocacy campaigns on behalf of corporate clients, coalitions and trade associations.
Previous to that, she was a political appointee at the U.S. Department of Education where she served as a regional director in the Office of Strategic Communications. While at the Department of Education, Ms. Maxwell managed communications outreach in the Western states for No Child Left Behind, a cornerstone of former President Bush’s domestic agenda, and coordinated national, regional and local media events for the secretary of education and other senior department officials.
Ms. Maxwell also has four years of Capitol Hill experience where she served as the deputy press secretary and communications aide to former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS). She began her career as an aide to the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms.
Ms. Maxwell is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science. She has professional affiliations with the National Press Club, the Public Relations Society of America and the Women’s High Tech Coalition. She is also an active member of the D.C. Baylor Alumni Network and the Junior League of Washington.
